Lupe Fiasco is cut from rare cloth. This kid first caught my ear with his debut single “kick, push” in early 06. I knew since then he made something special. He was born and raised in West Side, Chicago, and is a skateboard kid turned Grammy nominated rapper. Lupe names Spice 1 and Ice Cube as his early influences and although I think his vocals falter sometimes, his style reminds me of young Nas or Mos Def.
A new album called “The Cool” is set to hit stores in December 07. With new songs like “Superstar” and title track “The Cool” that I both love, I think Lupe Fiasco is giving us real classic records.
